I wanted to bring some clarity to the claims about Trayvon’s cell phone and my thoughts on them.
As of the date of this posting there is nothing official to tell us that police did not find a phone at the scene that Trayvon was using at that time. Since I have been looking into this case I have worked under the auspices that the phone found at the scene and described as belonging to Trayvon in the police reports was in fact the only phone found at the scene that Trayvon was talking on at the time. I have not fully moved away from this position because I have not seen or heard any official acknowledgement otherwise.
The one and only thing that has caused me to question this position are the claims made by someone close to the case known as OdessaGirl on ClickOrlando.com. There are two very specific claims made by her that I consider and that can be verifiable.
1) The phone found at the scene with the heart sticker is not Trayvon’s but in fact some girls phone who does not know Trayvon.
2) Trayvon’s phone took a court order and three weeks for authorities to get.
OdessaGirl has made other claims about the phone that I feel are extrapolations from these verifiable potential facts that I do not agree with.
Various other people have extrapolated various other things that I also do not agree with.
Let us look at claim number 1) The phone found at the scene with the heart sticker is not Trayvon’s but in fact some girls phone who does not know Trayvon. This is easily verifiable by running a check on the serial number and if everything is legit in regards to how it was bought and the hardware then one ought to be able to find the owner. That owner, apparently a girl who does not know Trayvon, can then tell us when she believes she last had possession of her phone.
My speculation, if claim one turns out to be true, is that whoever owns that phone lives at the Retreat at Twin Lakes and lost the phone at that spot where it was found later by police. It just happened to be there and the police assumed it was Trayvon’s because of its closeness to his body.
Let’s look at claim 2) Trayvon’s phone took a court order and three weeks for authorities to get. It does not necessarily follow from this verifiable potential fact that Trayvon did not have his phone the day and night of February 26th. Also, if Trayvon did not have his phone that does not mean that he did not have a phone.
Now, considering the FDLE described the cell phone found with the sticker on it as belonging to Trayvon and we see nothing else anywhere in the reports about any other phone I am going to assume here that it was the only phone found at the scene.
So what could this mean? Simply, no phone was found at the scene belonging to Trayvon.
But if Trayvon was talking to DeeDee at the time of the confrontation what happened to the phone? I don’t know. Pick your theory. Perhaps W13 stole it. Perhaps George picked it up and threw it on the roof of the townhomes. Perhaps George had a partner who ran off with the phone. My speculation? When Trayvon ran, he ran to Brandy Green’s house and dropped off a phone, if not his phone before going back for George. And that is all I am prepared to extrapolate from these claims at this time.
